The Art of Fragrance

An intoxicating scent to make you feel nostalgic about a place or a person - priceless.

Do you have one particular scent you are recognised by? My answer is no, because fragrance choice is dependent on mood, occasion and season. For the colder months I’m drawn to more woody notes, because one of my fondest memories is Sunday roast dinner near a log fire. Feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Summer I edge towards more herbal scents, such as Patchouli and Geranium. Nonetheless, my candle choices seem to sway in the same direction.

Recently, I’ve been reaching for a Tom Ford Private Blend fragrance most days. I used to keep my ‘best’ scents for nicer occasions, but after learning fragrance has a shelf life, I’m now working from home doused in expensive taste. After all, a scent can lift you up and make you feel a certain way. While to many, luxury is synonymous with exclusivity and ostentation; for me, a mood lifting scent can change the outlook on any given day.

Ford has labelled his Private Blend collection as a ‘scent laboratory,' which consists of 16 luxurious fragrances that develop over time, transforming from a singular scent to reveal complex undertones that defy convention. His fragrances have come a long way since the first release of Black Orchid in 2006.

The newest additions, ‘Bitter Peach’ and ‘Tubereuse Nue' are both fruity/floral and develop over time. I find myself reaching for ‘Fu**ing Fabulous’ over and over, the scent is like nothing I have experienced before. It’s fresh, spicy, warm and decadent.

It’s undeniably the most straightforward name for such a beautiful scent. Why make it complicated?
— Tom Ford

My question to you is, would adding a Tom Ford candle to my working from home schedule be taking my scent game too far? Because I’m very close to adding a Boujie Candle into my day…
