Shop Smarter This Sale Season With FARFETCH

November - The month we all wonder where the year has gone, panic buy Christmas presents, and impulse purchase clothing that you probably don’t need! If this year has taught us anything, it’s how to be sensible with money.

The past three years, I have really culled my wardrobe. I tend to think about my purchases for a lot longer. This year is no different. The week running up to Black Friday should be a time to consider what will bring joy into your life. What’s been on your mind this year, and can you see yourself utilising it in the coming months?

Lifestyles have changed, and I think we can all agree comfort and looking after yourself is key. So this sale season, I’ve put together a FARFETCH wishlist of items I’ll be considering purchasing which will last me season on season, regardless of where you are in the world. Some of the staples in my wardrobe include blazers, good quality basics, comfortable footwear and a versatile everyday bag. Don’t limit Black Friday shopping to clothing. It’s also the perfect time to invest in that face serum you love, or even homewares to spruce up your space.

Loungewear/Basics

You can still feel put together and chic at home with a cute knit or cotton two piece set. To be honest, it’s all I really wear when I’m working from home. For colder climates consider a neutral toned sweatshirt and track pants or for added luxury cashmere/knit bottoms and knit. Not forgetting the warmer climates: sweat shorts and good quality tank tops.

Blazer or Trench Coat

Oversized of either will last you season on season (plus a trench coat is the perfect supermarket option if you want to wear your PJ’s underneath!). A camel double breasted trench coat can be styled so many ways, and will last you for most seasons (minus summer). Wear open in spring with shorts and sandals, or layer up in winter with chunky boots and a blazer underneath.

The Versatile Designer Bag

I’ve been on the hunt for my next designer bag for the best part of two years. I don’t own many handbags, and have to love something for a while if it’s of value before I part with my money. For me, an investment bag is of medium size which I can wear day in day out. I’ve had my BOYY bag for just over two years, you’re probably sick of seeing it by now! But it’s my most loved and used. If you’ve been wanting a new bag for some time, Black Friday is the time to splurge. You could save $100’s, and essentially it’s not an impulse purchase. If it’s been on your mind for months, then now is the time to take the plunge.

Comfortable Footwear

A few trends have been in the spotlight this season: chunky boots, loafers, and 90’s style sneakers. Added bonus: they are comfy enough for a walk or trip to the shops, and are multi seasonal.

Skincare

Looking after your skin can get pricey, but it’s one investment we shouldn’t bypass. My good friend Donna Bartoli always says ‘Prevention is better than cure’. When you see how glowing and youthful her skin is at 40, you listen! Take notes from your favourite beauty editors, and also don’t forget to check the reviews on websites. I’ll be looking for quality serums, actives, retinol, and night creams.
